The Shame is over so I'm told

So after much nagging from Simon and various other people I have finally watched The Shawshank Redemption. I enjoyed the film it is very well made and was wonderfully written and there are some good scenes. This is a nice film to watch and I would watch it again. Morgan Freeman was great and I think he should have won the Oscar. I now see why all of you like the film so much but I still prefer American Beauty.



I have also finished reading Dark Cathedral by Freda Warrington. This was also after much nagging from Simon however this time I really liked it. The book is about a girl called Beth who goes and stays with her Grandparents over the summer holidays to escape from her super religious mother. Along with her brother Luke they meet and make friends with Rhianwen Rhys the village witch. Luke however thinks shes the devil and turns his back on her but Beth stays and learns the art of witchcraft and the power of the goddess. Everthing is fine until one summer Beth meets Morgan Rhianwen's son they fall in love and Beth ends up pregnant at fourteen. After her daughter Eirian is born Beth discovers that she is more than just a child she can see things and work powerful magic. Also it is set around Birmingham. I finished this book in just over a week and a half which is good going for me. I found once I started reading it I couldn't put it down and I was often reading until 3am. This book deals with everything from Paganism and Christianity to the dealings of Cults. The book is well written and captures the imagination and it reminds me of another favorite book of mine the Crucible the only book the school made us read that was any good. All I have to do read the sequel.
